en formato de “exposición retrospectiva” en el centro CEART de Fuenlabrada.
Coincidiendo con el 30 aniversario de su primera exposición individual, Josechu
Dávila retoma un absurdo proyecto de juventud: realizar una retrospectiva a los
20 años, fallido en su momento “seguramente por no creer tan firmemente en la
inutilidad como ahora”.
La exposición se plantea como la que realizaría un artista anciano o ya fallecido,
mostrando desde trabajos de infancia y cuadros de la mencionada exposición
individual de 1983, hasta una selección de sus actuales obras en video, instalaciones,
pinturas, etc.
Esta exageración caricaturesca de una exposición retrospectiva y su desajuste
temporal son la base conceptual de un proyecto en el que el artista retoma lo
absurdo de la idea inicial, enlazándola con la inutilidad, el desaprovechamiento y su
habitual dosis de vacile hacia el mundo del arte.
The multindisciplined artist Josechu Dàvila (Madrid, 1966), presents his latest project in a "retrospective" in the center of Fuenlabrada CEART, from September 5, to October 20, 2013.
According to the 30th anniversary of his first solo exhibition, Josechu Davila returns to a preposterous / nonsensical youth project: make a retrospective at age 20, failed at the time "surely because I didn`t believed so strongly in futility as I do now", artist says.
The exhibition is presented as made by an old artist or even a deceased one, showing work from childhood and pictures of that first solo exhibition of 1983, to a current selection of video works, installations, paintings, etc.
This exaggerated caricature of a retrospective and its jet lag, is the conceptual basis of a project in which the artist takes up the absurdity of the initial idea, linking it to the futility, the waste and challenge to the art world, as usual trademark.
