APORTACIÒN DE CONTENIDO ECONÒMICO A 25 MUJERES DE CIUDAD JUÁREZ

Aportación económica de 125.000 pesos entre 25 mujeres de Ciudad Juárez, elegidas al azar, con el perfil de las mujeres secuestradas y asesinadas desde 1993 hasta la actualidad. Las mujeres desconocieron el motivo por el que fueron elegidas, así como el origen del dinero y su participación dentro de un proyecto artístico. Las entregas se realizaron en mano, dentro de sobres sin remitente, con su nombre y dirección, y por medio una mensajerìa creada ex profeso para el proyecto. La cantidad total entregada fueron 9.000 €, unos 125.000 pesos Mexicanos al cambio.
EL DESCONOCIMIENTO MUTUO sustenta este trabajo: por un lado, el de las mujeres, respecto a quién y por qué les entrega 5.000 pesos; y por otro, el del espectador de la obra, que no sabrá nunca de las emociones y reacciones reales que genere esta acción, aunque siempre las imagine. Paradójicamente, lo que en otras circunstancias se podría calificar de acto positivo y grato (recibir dinero por sorpresa y anónimamente), se convierte, por el hecho de realizarse en Ciudad Juárez, en un acto de encontradas sensaciones y lìmites morales.
En coherencia con el concepto del proyecto, no se realizó ningún tipo de registro visual o sonoro de las entregas, o de las posibles reacciones de las mujeres al recibir los sobres, ni de la documentación que generó el propio proceso. Es una obra de arte plástico sin soporte, sin formalización concreta, sòlo sustentada por el desconocimiento mutuo y difundida por medio de la palabra, tanto verbal como escrita.
Esta obra está dedicada a todas las personas asesinadas en Ciudad Juárez, y a las que sufren a diario la violencia y destrucción de su ciudad. Y con un especial recuerdo a Roberto Urréa Caraveo, vilmente asesinado el miércoles 28 de julio de 2010, poco despuès de terminar este proyecto.

Financial contribution of 125,000 pesos among 25 women from Ciudad Juárez, chosen at random, with the profile of women kidnapped and murdered from 1993 to the present. The women did not know why they had been chosen, nor did they know the origin of the money or their participation in an artistic project. The deliveries were made by hand, in unaddressed envelopes, with their name and address, and by a courier company created specifically for the project. The total amount delivered was 9.000 €, about 125.000 Mexican pesos at the exchange rate.
MUTUAL UNKNOWNNNESS underpins this work: on the one hand, that of the women, regarding who and why they are given 5,000 pesos; and on the other, that of the spectator of the work, who will never know the real emotions and reactions generated by this action, although he or she can always imagine them. Paradoxically, what in other circumstances could be described as a positive and pleasant act (receiving money by surprise and anonymously), becomes, due to the fact that it takes place in Ciudad Juárez, an act of mixed sensations and moral limits.
In coherence with the concept of the project, no visual or sound record was made of the deliveries, or of the possible reactions of the women on receiving the envelopes, or of the documentation generated by the process itself. It is a work of plastic art without support, without concrete formalisation, sustained only by mutual ignorance and disseminated by means of the word, both verbal and written.
This work is dedicated to all the people murdered in Ciudad Juárez, and to those who suffer daily the violence and destruction of their city. And with a special remembrance to Roberto Urréa Caraveo, vilely murdered on Wednesday 28 July 2010, shortly after finishing this project.
